Life skill: Community Services

Explanation of life skills

Service learning involves any helping activity. Service learning is a teaching and learning methodology that fosters civic responsibility and applies classroom learning through meaningful service to the community.

Connection to the community creates a responsive, safe and stable education and care environment, which, in turn, promotes children’s belonging and learning. Children’s understanding of themselves is developed through relationships and in the context of their families and communities.

What is the role of community in the development of a child?

The creation of a local community in early childhood becomes the supportive, positive, uplifting foundation of a child’s life. It helps them to learn about themselves. It helps them learn how to tackle challenges, build knowledge, and thrive.

Life skill: Empathy

Explanation of life skills

Empathy is about understanding another person’s point of view. Empathy is different from sympathy. Sympathy is someone is in pain, or someone has a strong feeling, and you try to connect with them. There certainly has come to you a messenger from among yourselves. He is concerned by your suffering, anxious for your well-being, and gracious and merciful to the believers.

HADITH

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has always shown the greatest compassion.

See example:

“Awaking from a nap one afternoon, he found a small, sick cat fast asleep on the edge of his cloak. The Holly Prophet cut off his garment so that the cat could sleep undisturbed. Is that a man who would advocate the unnecessary slaughter of harmless beasts?” show sympathy to others, “The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught, “especially to those who are weaker than you?”

Life skill: Managing Feelings

Explanation of life skills

Managing emotional reactions means choosing how and when to express the emotions we feel. People who do a good job of managing emotions know that it’s healthy to express their feelings.

“Then is one who was a believer like one who was defiantly disobedient? They are not equal”.

So the ability to manage emotions effectively is a key part of emotional intelligence. Regulating emotions, responding appropriately, and responding to the emotions of others are all important aspects of emotional management.

HADITH

The Prophet (PBUH) also advised us that performing ablution was an acceptable method of anger management. He (PBUH) said,

“Anger comes from shaytan, Shaytan was created from fire, and the fire is extinguished only with water; so when any of you is angry, he should perform ablution”.

Besides, the Prophet Muhammad suggested that when angry, a believer could try other methods to rid himself of the influence of shaytan. He once advised a man who was angry and fighting to seek refuge in Allah from the influence of shaytan.

Tips for Helping Your Children Cooperate

  1. Take turns.
  2. Explain your reasons for limits and requests.
  3. Take time to problem-solve.
  4. Do chores together starting at an early age.

  6. Offer suggestions, not commands.
  7. Give your child choices while maintaining the rules.

AL-QURAN

Surah al-Maida,5:2

“Cooperate in good deeds and abstain from evil.”

HADITH

On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him),” Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter. Allah is helping the servant as long as the servant is helping his brother. Whoever follows a path to seek knowledge thereby, Allah will make easy doe him, due to it, a path to Paradise. No people gather together in a house of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descended upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them and Allah makes mention of them to those in His presence. Whoever is slowed by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage.”
