The great age of ‘stumble upon’ or commercial innovation is over. Now it has to be the age of innovation for survival. The human race will perish if this paradigm shift does not take place within the next decade. The primary school science curriculum is the best place to initiate this kind of innovation.
The survival of humankind depends on an innovation-based science curriculum with science projects for kids. Here are some suggestions for innovation-based science learning.
Innovation is a meaningful, fruitful, and beneficial invention or creativity. Airplanes, watches, mobile phones, and automobiles are good examples of innovation. Innovations have added to the quality of life. However, an audit of all the innovations made in the last three hundred years will show that not all innovations were made to add to the comfort level of humankind. Now we enter a phase of human history where innovation can’t be made just to add to the luxuries of life. Rather the innovations of the future should help us survive better by correcting some of the problems caused by the innovations of the past.

Here are some examples:
● TV has made toys boring for children. Most children don’t want to play with those toy cars and building blocks. There is a need for more innovative toys that can help us move children away from cartoon networks.
● There’s a need to invent new ways to light our homes and businesses. This will help us reduce electricity consumption.
● The increasing quantity of unhealthy gases in the atmosphere has made it necessary to produce fresher air at home.
Considering the congestion on our roads, we need new ways to get from one place to another.
Butterfly and Friends science series by EAST are developed to help children become innovators of a special kind. The innovations that can help us correct the mistakes of the past. Children should learn to make innovations that can help us fix the problems of modern society. There are examples of useful innovations in this science series that helps children think in new ways. Let’s see what materials are there in this science series that relate to the issues mentioned earlier:
| Problem | Text in B&F science books series that leads children towards the solutions of these problems |
| Children glued to TV | Toys of the Future talks about the kinds of toys that will help us bring kids back to the play area. |
| Light bulbs take up lots of energy | Sea Animals that Give out Light make children thin: What if we study these animals and come up with a cheaper way to light our homes? |
| Unhealthy gases in the atmosphere | Ways to create healthy air at home has plants that help us generate oxygen. |
| Congestion on roads | World First Robotic Bird has the details of the bird that will help children think of new ways of getting from one place to another |
Let’s create a new breed of innovators: The innovators of necessities rather than wants. B&F Science series will help you do that. This primary school science curriculum with science projects for kids will serve the needs of the future.
