Learning Disabilities of children can affect their life?

Learning Disabilities

Learning disabilities in children stop them from doing well. This means that they face problems in learning basic skills such as reading, writing, or counting. These problems can also grow into life skills problems such as

● Hard to steer things and handle tasks.

● Difficult to plan time and manage it well.

● Face long or short-term memory.

● Unable to focus and give attention.

Those who have these learning issues may have social problems as well.

These children either cannot write correct words or face issues in counting numbers. Because of this, they lose their self-esteem, and we usually think of them as dull students—all of this dash their hopes. Teachers and parents also think of them as less smart than other children, but they do not focus on the real problem.

So what the actual problem is?

The problem is that we ignore the issues our kids get. We ignore their habit of daydreaming. We also do not try to stand in their shoes when they feel stuck while learning. Rather, we get mad at them and scold them, which only makes the issue worse. All these minor issues create big plight in the lives of our kids. This will stop their character building. Parents do know and should know the value of Self Development. We can turn down this trouble if we give extra care to the child. All we need to do is worry less and care more. But to solve an issue, we must know it in depth. So what is that acting as a stone in the ways of the dream of our kids?

Learning Disabilities

Learning Disabilities have two main types:

Learning Disabilities include a lot of problems, but it has two main types:

1. Dyslexia

2. ADHD

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is one of the most common learning disabilities. It makes reading and spelling hard for a child or any person.

As International Dyslexia Association writes:

It is characterised by difficulties with accurate and fluent word recognition and poor spelling and decoding abilities.

Its other name is ‘Developmental reading disorder.’ It also has more subtypes. These are speaking, reading, and even attention issues. Attentional disorder means having a hitch in keeping a focus on speaking and reading. Older people can also have this disorder. You can also have a Dyslexia test.

Signs of Dyslexia

These are the signs that can help you find out about Dyslexia among children:

● Children are unable to read, write and spell words.

● Because they can’t focus, they may seem dumb and sloppy.

● They may also get confused in writing similar letters and numbers: e.g., b as d.

● They also find it hard to calculate.

● They also seem to lose focus and heed.

The association explains these points in detail. You can read it by clicking here.

Causes of Dyslexia

The global rings tell these causes:

● The gap in the growth of the brain and its tasks.

● Low-weight child.

● Another cause can be premature birth.

Intake of drugs can cause an infection that may affect brain growth in the fetus.

● Kids have this hitch because their parents also have the same problem.

Following are its causes in Pakistan:

● Intermarriages

● Unchecked and excessive use of gadgets and watching TV

● Unhealthy diet

ADD/ADHD

It is Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD). It includes strain in paying attention. It is also the strain on steering behaviour and hyperactivityIn children, ADHD occurs with other disorders about two-thirds of the time.

Healthline tells these signs of ADD and ADHD are:

● Self-focused behaviour

● Interrupting

● Trouble waiting their turn

● Inconsistent performance

● Lack of focus

● Mistakes

● Lack of self-control

Solutions:

You can deal with learning disabilities. We can raise their reading skills as well as other life skills.

Parents of these kids can:

● Take out some more time for these kids.

● Reduce their workload

● Give them each task one by one.

● Make sure they have got it well.

● Cheer them up by giving rewards.

● Check their work to avoid mistakes.

● Give them time to finish their work.

Teachers of these students should:

● Deal with them normally in class.

● Repeat things to make them get it well.

● Give them some more tasks to help them focus.

● Keep checking their class work and homework.

● Keep records of their progress.

● Help them try other activities. It will Self-Motivate them.

● Help them in reading. Make them read easy words first

● Do not be in a rush. Which means it will take time. This job needs resilience.

Mothers and teachers can try CMT. It is a very good training course. You can learn to deal with this disability well.

CMT has Exercises of Practical Life (EPL).

EPL helps teachers to be patient. It also gives manners to students as these life exercises are day-to-day help.

For Example:

● Carrying a Mat

● Unrolling/Rolling a Mat

● Spooning

● Pouring Beans

● Beading

● Sponging

It is not a shame to have these issues. However, we need to bring it down as much as we can. If we try our best, we can, with the help of these steps, make less the learning issues for a kid.
