What is the purpose of number rhymes other than teaching children writing formation?

These rhymes are practiced in two steps. First, while sitting in the classroom, where children move two fingers of their right hand in the air along with the words of the rhyme. Next, in the open as an activity for physical development where they use the same rhyme to stretch their body.
